Friends of Nomad (Fundraising)

We have a group of volunteers called the ‘Friends of Nomad. They work together to organise fundraising events and to promote the work of Nomad in their communities.

One of the Friends is fundraising in his local community by handing out small collection boxes to household to collect spare change. These boxes are regularly brought into Nomad, the contents adding up to an average of £40 per time.

If you would like to become a ‘Friend of Nomad’, please contact Brenda on 07500 788276.

Nomad ‘Rowathon’ 2013

On Saturday 2nd February 2013, 13 teams from various organisations and schools came together for a fundraising event in aid of the Nomad Trust. It was a very successful event with an estimate of between £3,000 and £4,000 raised. Each team signed up to row (on rowing machines!) in teams of between 6 and 10 people, 35k which is the distance between Dover and Calais across the English Channel. All teams managed the row in under 2 hrs 30 mins.

The winning team was a group of students from the Priory City of Lincoln Academy where the event was held, with a fantastic time of 1 hr 59 mins! The next team was from J. Wilkins Electrical with a time of 2 hrs 1 min, closely followed by Sills and Betteridge at 2 hrs 2 mins.

The award for the most amount of money raised went to the team from J. Wilkins Electrical.

Thanks goes out to all the teams for their fantastic efforts – and for all the sore limbs that they are probably still sporting now, two days later!
